  • How can I find out the cost of booking Jupiter Ray for my wedding or event?
    At Jupiter Ray, we believe in complete transparency when it comes to pricing. You can find our pricing guidelines directly on our website under the packages tab. Please remember that these prices are intended as guidelines! Every celebration is unique and we'd be happy to discuss your specific requirements in more detail to provide a refined and accurate quote! Head over to our Quote Calculator to find out more!
  • How Long Do You Normally Play For?
    We recommend playing 2x 1 hour sets of live music with a short break inbetween. We find pushing the times later in the evening means everyone is nicely relaxed and ready to party but we can start whenever you like! We can also play 3x 40 minute sets depending on how you’d like the evening to run. We can also play additional sets with our 45min add on from our Quote Calculator.
  • Where are you based?
    The band was formed in Colchester, Essex but the members now live in Essex, Hertfordshire, and Cambridgeshire! But that doesn't matter, we are very willing to travel for your event! Just get in touch with us and we'll love to talk through all of the details with you!
  • Where is your next public gig?
    Due to being so busy with private functions we seldom play live events. We are adding a few public shows a year in different counties including the odd festival slot. Keep your eye on our social media for updates on all our public performances.
  • How far do you travel?
    We are very happy to travel wherever is required for your event/special day! Fuel costs will be calculated for the location of your event and will be given to you as part of your personalised quote, so you know up front what our expenses would be! Just get in touch and we can work that out for you!
  • Can you provide a DJ?
    Yes, absolutely! We offer a DJ service (run by a member of the band) that plays before and between our sets or until 1am with our upgrade package. We can also play a playlist of your choice provided you send us a playlist at least 1 month before the event.
  • What Kind Of Set Can We Expect At Our Event?
    We like to change up our set to keep things fresh but rest assured, our set list is curated to ensure your guests have an amazing time and will be dancing all night long! We try to play everything from Motown to Soul; Disco to Funk; and even some modern hits too! Head over to our repertoire page to see the full list!
  • Can You Learn The First Dance At Our Wedding?
    We aren't able to play a unique first dance for every wedding we play, however if your first dance is within our repertoire, we would be very pleased to play it live for you! Otherwise, we can DJ your first dance free of charge! Our singer Laura can also learn and perform your first dance in a solo acoustic style for an additional fee.
  • Are You Loud? The Venue Has A Noise Limiter.
    All of our instruments are sent through our PA system so the noise levels can controlled by a master volume control. We also use an electric drum kit which helps us bring our overall sound level to below 80 decibels. If you're concerned about the specifications of your particular venue, please get in contact with us!
  • Do You Have Your Own Lighting?
    Yes, we have an incredible lighting package that we control during the set to make sure everything looks its best! To give you an idea, we have 6 moving heads, 3 Hex battens, some par cans, as well as a Haze machine (venue permitting!). All of this professional lighting is included in all packages!
  • What happens if a band member is ill or tests positive for COVID before a scheduled performance?
    To make sure that Jupiter Ray continues to provide the ultimate standard of entertainment, we have an extended family of experienced, trusted musicians poised to perform at any time. This means you can relax knowing that Jupiter Ray will always have talented musicians ready to perform. Rest assured, no matter which 4 members of the Jupiter Ray family will be performing on your big day, we'll be ready to bring our A-game and deliver the signature Jupiter Ray experience! In the extremely rare and unlikely event that a member falls ill days leading up to your event and no cover can be found, we are able to offer a DJ only service at a suitably reduced rate - safeguarding your event to make sure no matter what, your evening entertainment is covered.
  • How Long Does It Take You To Set Up?
    Ideally, we need 1.5 hours to set up and sound check so there is no undesirable feedback (horrible squealing noises). We can arrange our arrival time with you if there are any special requests.
  • Are there any hidden costs?
    No! Once we've discussed your requirements and offered your quote the price for your event is fixed. Should you requirements change and you need an earlier arrival, later finish or any amendments to the initial agreement this would likely incur additional cost.
